Help Wanted #6: EASY ONE! Uniform colors

Postby John Asendorf on Wed Jan 19, 2005 4:46 pm

I'm trying to determine the MAIN 2 colors each of the five services would wear their ribbons on.

Sure the Army CAN wear ribbons on Dress Whites... but the main colors are Dress Greens and Dress Blues.

So, how about Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard?

Thanks in advance, John

For the Navy, it would be Winter Blues (actually black), and Summer Whites. Of course that's all subject to change once the new uniforms are approved!

Navy ever wear them on khaki? Would khaki be more common than either of the other two?

You are completely correct. Since I'm a "blue shirt peon", I was only thinking E-6 and below. Sure, E-7 and up wear them on khaki.

To correct my earlier post, I should have said, there's THREE main colors the Navy would wear them on....Winter Blues (black), Summer Whites, and Khaki!!

Apologies for the mix-up.

What I'm thinking of doing is setting a "selector" to change the background image tag for the cell... shouldn't be too hard.

For the Coast Guard the 3 main ones are the Dark Blue Wool Service Jacket also known as "Bravos" (color is just like the AF one), the lt blue dress shirt also known as "Trops" or "Tropical blue Long" (looks just like the AF one), and the whites used by the Navy.

The Service Jacket is worn by both Officer and Enlisted.

The Tropical Blue Long is worn by both Officer and Enlisted.

The Whites are only worn by Officers.
